Already registered? Log in
Open “Register” and choose the account type: artist profile (singing, conducting, stage direction), opera house / organizer, agency, casting or opera fan. The password needs at least 10 characters. Then confirm your e-mail address with the link in our e-mail. Accounts for opera houses, agencies and casting are additionally approved by the administration. During the pilot phase registration is only possible with an invitation link or invitation code.
On the login page use “Forgot your password?”. You receive a link by e-mail. To prevent abuse there are limits (e.g. a few e-mails per hour) – wait a few minutes if needed. If two-factor authentication is on, you confirm every login with a code sent to your e-mail. If the page says your account is awaiting approval, the administration is still checking it.
At the top of the page you can switch between German, English, French, Spanish and Italian. When logged in, “My profile” → “Privacy” → “Language” sets the language of the website, e-mails and push notifications – on all your devices.
In “My profile” you find Profile, Photos, Repertoire, Performances, Calendar, Measurements, Videos & discography, Documents and Personal data. “Make public” makes your profile visible (directory, search); “Make private” removes it again. Measurements are private: only you, the administration and agencies you explicitly allow in the “Agencies” tab can see them. “My dossier as PDF” builds an application folder for you.
In “Repertoire” you add roles or works and mark whether you have already performed them or whether they are “Prepared / studied”. Opera houses, agencies and casting find you in the search by these details once your profile is public. Past and planned performances go into “Performances” or the calendar.
Each day has a status: Free, Request / option, Booked / busy or Grey – hidden (then “Availability on request” is shown). Entries are performance, rehearsal or appointment. Only performances appear publicly (profile, search, fan calendar, notifications). With “Visible from” a performance stays hidden until that date – others only see the day as booked.
In the agency profile under “Team calendar” every team member has a personal calendar, plus the shared agency calendar. For each entry you choose: “Only me” (default), “Whole agency team” or “Selected team members”. Private entries stay private – also from the agency owner; others only see “busy”. You can share your calendar permanently with selected team members. Entries “on behalf of the agency” require a separate right.
In the own calendar there is an “Import” button (for agencies and organizers in the team calendar under “My calendar”). First export the calendar from the other app as an .ics file:
Google: Settings › Import & export › Export (unzip the downloaded ZIP file first).
Mac: Calendar › File › Export.
Outlook for Windows (classic): File › Save Calendar. Under “More options” choose “Whole calendar” and the detail level “Full details”, then save. The file is an .ics file.
Outlook on the web: Settings › Calendar › Shared calendars › Publish a calendar. Choose the calendar and “Can view all details”, then select Publish. The .ics file can be downloaded with the ICS link.
Then end the publishing again: a published calendar can be seen by everyone who has the link.
The menu names can differ slightly between Outlook versions. Select the downloaded file here under “Import”.
iPhone, step by step: The Calendar app on the iPhone cannot export a calendar as a file. The way leads through iCloud on a computer:
1. Check on the iPhone that the calendar is stored in iCloud (Settings › [Name] › iCloud › Calendar is switched on). Calendars of a Google account are exported in Google Calendar instead (see above).
2. On a computer open icloud.com/calendar in the browser and sign in with the Apple Account.
3. In the left column click the share symbol next to the calendar and tick “Public Calendar”. A link starting with webcal:// appears; copy it.
4. Open a new browser tab, paste the link, replace “webcal” at the beginning with “https” and press Enter. The .ics file is downloaded.
5. Then untick “Public Calendar” again. As long as it is ticked, everyone who knows the link can see the appointments of this calendar.
6. Select the downloaded file here under “Import” (on the computer, or after transferring it to the iPhone).
Quicker on a Mac on which the same iCloud calendar is set up: Calendar › File › Export, then select the file here.
The file may contain up to 2 MB and 1000 appointments. After the upload a preview follows with a tick per appointment and a period filter; nothing is imported until “Import selected appointments” is pressed. Imported appointments are private and are not published. Recurring appointments are created up to 12 months ahead. Importing the same file again later updates the appointments instead of duplicating them. The file itself is not stored.
In the own calendar there is a “Show in another calendar” button next to “Import” (for agencies and organizers in the team calendar under “My calendar”). After the notice has been confirmed a private link is created, which is entered in Google Calendar (“Other calendars › + › From URL”), Apple Calendar (“File › New Calendar Subscription”) or Outlook (“Add calendar › Subscribe from web”). The link shows all entries that are visible to the account and is read-only; changes in the other app do not reach GIGHS. Privacy: when the link is subscribed, the provider (for example Google or Apple) retrieves it regularly and keeps a copy of the appointments on its own servers. The link works like a password and must not be passed on. If it may have been passed on, “Reset link” makes the old link invalid immediately. “Delete link” removes it completely. GIGHS does not log retrievals and only stores the time of the last one. Google updates subscribed calendars only every few hours (up to about a day). Duplicates: whoever imports appointments from Google and then subscribes to the GIGHS link in Google gets every appointment twice, because imported appointments keep their own identifier. So either import or subscribe. Organizers and their staff have a team calendar like agencies and can create a link there as well; casting managers and fans also have an own calendar, but without a subscription link.
An agency can send a representation request once the artist profile is public. In “Agencies” you accept or decline it and set per section what the agency may view or edit (e.g. calendar, profile, documents). The agency only sees what you allow; you can change the rights at any time.
The agency owner invites by e-mail in the agency profile under “Team” (“Send invitation”) and assigns rights, e.g. manage artist calendars, engagements & travel, finance, answer contact requests or chat on behalf of the agency. Team members can only act within these rights. With the “Manage engagements & travel” right, team members can also confirm engagements.
You start a chat with a chat request from a profile or a search result; once accepted you can write and attach files. Via “⋯” or a long press you delete messages “for me” or (your own) “for everyone”. Conversations can be blocked, deleted or reported. Under “Messages” you choose whether you get e-mails for new requests or messages.
One grey ✓ means sent, two grey ✓✓ delivered, two blue ✓✓ read. Under “Messages” you can turn “Read receipts” off (default: on). It is mutual: others then do not see when you have read their messages – and you do not see it for theirs either.
Under “Messages” → “🔔 Push notifications” tap “Enable notifications” and allow them in the browser – per device. On iPhone/iPad this only works if you add the site to the Home Screen (Share □↑ → “Add to Home Screen”), open it from there and then enable it (iOS 16.4 or newer). Optional preview (sender and beginning of the message). Without push you keep receiving e-mails, if enabled.
In “My profile” → “Privacy”, “Download data (JSON)” gives you all data stored about you (GDPR Art. 15/20). There you can also delete your account permanently with your password – profile, photos, repertoire, calendar and measurements are removed; this cannot be undone. Also there: two-factor authentication and language.
